I show how to mix a small glaze sample and then use it to glaze a mug.
I should also mention that I'm being unsafe and one should wear a mask when mixing clay or glazes.

life choices and happiness life choices and happiness
Posted by: ClayThrower

Video duration: 508 seconds

I work on the wheel for the first time in a good long time and talk about being unemployed / self employed and a bit about what it takes to be happy. Looking back at the video, I could have just narrated over myself throwing instead of skipping around in the editing process. Maybe next time. Part of me likes the stream of consciousness babble at the wheel though.

Another very basic "how I do it" type video. It took me a while to figure out how to spiral knead, and I'm still not sure I'm doing it the 'proper' way, but it works for me.

How to reuse clay scrap 101- very basic information How to reuse clay scrap 101- very basic information

Video duration: 398 seconds

I wanted to cover some of the very basic things that are sometimes forgotten about when people teach this craft.
This is how I go about reusing my trimmings and slop from the clay forming process. Once clay has been fired, it can't be made workable clay again. Grog maybe.

Gelatin Bubbles Gelatin Bubbles

Video duration: 122 seconds

I'm sure there are better recipes for this, I just had the idea and tried it. It was fun, so I thought I'd share. I was hard to clean off the floor if I let it set up. Also, outside didn't work so well because the bubbles stuck to my windows and screens.

My influences as a potter My influences as a potter
Posted by: ClayThrower

Video duration: 597 seconds

I had to edit this down rather harshly due to the fact that I could give 10 minutes to each example easily. I've left out quite a few, but tried to get the primary ones. I took these images off the net, so if they are copywritten, sorry. I am using them only to teach others the kinds of pots I look at and admire.

Art judge and some thoughts on criticism Art judge and some thoughts on criticism
Posted by: ClayThrower

Video duration: 589 seconds

I talk a bit about some things I thought about after I judged some High School and Middle School paintings. When is the right time to worry what critics think? How do we know who to listen to and who to disregard? How do we criticize children without damaging their confidence, self esteem or enthusiasm for art? I don't answer the questions, I just ask them.

Ignorance is a Choice Ignorance is a Choice

Video duration: 139 seconds

I wanted to make a text only video. One reason is simply to avoid audio sync issues. It is a bit like a P.S.A. for libraries. I owe a great deal to them. Not being able to use professional music because of You Tube's Copyright policy, I was forced to dust off my guitar and record my own. I rather like how it came out.

Tube arts: video Haiku Tube arts: video Haiku
Posted by: ClayThrower

Video duration: 20 seconds

using a webcam and software as the medium, my experience with ink painting and my respect for haiku, I made this. Reading poetry in a video, in my opinion, isn't anything that will add much to the art of poetry. The strength is still in the use of language more so than the medium of video and audio. Poetry does not have to be written to be called poetry, does it?
