Video duration: 11 seconds This is part of my collection of vintage Hornb-Dublo model trains made by Meccano Ltd. The N2 locomotive is one of the oldest in the range, originally introduced in 1938. It's based on the LNER N2, though it isn't a particularly good model honestly! However, it's very serviceable, will haul a long train and is very reliable. Video duration: 31 seconds 'Silver King' replaced the original 'Sir Nigel Gresley' in the 1950's and continued until 1959 or 1960. It's hauling the short-lived LNER coaches which had printed window representations rather than perspex. Video duration: 12 seconds This is a small petrol engine of a type that was, briefly, very popular. The way that it works isn't obvious, there is a power stroke only if the RPM has fallen below a certain level, there seems to be a centrifugal link which, when it engages, fires the cylinder, hence the rather odd sound of the engine.
